Enrolling in the Apple iOS Developer Program

While I’ve been designing for and heavily using the iPhone and iPad, I haven’t written my own app yet. Taking the plunge by enrolling!

Source: Bokardo @ 07:29
A quick announcement about a workshop I’m giving in Boston in October on the Usage Lifecycle. The workshop is for designers, design managers, product folks, and other people responsible for web sites who are struggling with creating a great user experience. Twitter for iPad

Just downloaded the first version of Twitter for iPad (iTunes link) and trying it out. On first glance, love the clean, properly-sized UI. Try pinch/zoom on a tweet to see more info. Pinch again to close. Swipe down with two fingers to see a thread. The “write a tweet” view overlaps a bit much for my [...]

Urban Forest Map

I was still curious after taking this photo of the trees on 24th Street at Bryant earlier today. How could I identify these trees?  I did several searches on variations of “trees on 24th street mission san francisco” which brought up some great local links, including SFTrees and a good list of trees in the Mission [...]

After yesterday’s deluge of web work (first meeting with MW, then FV, then JM), we headed out this afternoon for short relax: a vegan diner meal at St. Francis Fountain, impressively established in 1918. We opted for our own constructed breakfast combo, including “the vegan thing” (potatoes, guac, salsa, vegan jack), side of vegan sausages, [...]

Stuck on BART

Some kind of train issue has us sitting still for 20 minutes at the 16th Street BART station. Then the train slowly goes backwards and forwards to fix a rail issue. Passed the time taking hipstamatic iPhone photos rather than becoming exasperated like the woman in front of us.

HKIA Sensor

Pulled  this security sticker from Hong Kong Airport off my luggage last night only to discover a sensor underneath. Googled to find one cached document citing: “in addition, Hong Kong International Airport, one of the busiest airports in the world, has improved its baggage tracking infrastructureusing RFID in order to increase customer satisfaction. The baggage [...]

Future iPhones, iPads could recognize, adjust for individual users

Relying on a user’s picture or the sound of their voice, future portable devices from Apple like an iPhone or iPad could recognize individuals who pick up and use the item. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office this week revealed a patent application from Apple entitled “Systems and Methods for Identifying Unauthorized Users of an [...]
